Join Awesöme Orchestra as a musician or a listener for our next musical adventure: Open Session 52 with National Night Out at the Oakland Public Library! New to the orchestra? Learn more here.
One of the three pieces we’re playing for Open Session 52 that deserves special attention is Requiem Without Words, written in loving memory of the victims killed in the Ghost Ship fire last year, and in consolation to those of us who lost someone dear. We are honored to premiere this piece, written by Awesöme Ambassador Arturo Rodriguez.
To deepen your music appreciation, we have some bacchanalian musicology on our blog about the first piece we’re playing: “Grand cortège de Bacchus” from Sylvia by Léo Delibes. Thanks to Molly Phelan, author of the musicology blog Canon Fodder, for guest blogging!
Get bacchanalian!
And last but not least, we’re phoning home to the ’80s with E.T.: Adventures on Earth by John Williams. Enough said!
Note: limited street parking available; strongly suggested to walk from 12th St. or Lake Merritt BART stations.

Once that has passed, expect an email from your Awesöme Ambassadors with specific info and part assignments within the week (check your spam filters if this is your first session). Email your ambassadors if you haven't heard back by July 29. (Please be patient—they have a lot of information to collect before emailing everyone.)
