Requiem Sinfónica Concert

Please join Awesöme Orchestra Collective on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts in Oakland as we premiere the nine-movement Requiem Sinfónica, A Requiem Without Words commemorating the 36 lives lost in the tragic Ghost Ship fire of 2016.
Local composer and flutist, Arturo Rodriguez, began composing Requiem Sinfónica in early 2017, having been deeply affected by this tragedy in his community. He was searching for an outlet for his grief and what followed became a nine-movement, 90-minute requiem. Awesöme Orchestra will hold this commemoration at the Malonga Casquelourd Center in Oakland for the community to gather together and grieve, reflect, celebrate, and honor those lost.
This event will be free and open to the public, but you must reserve a seat through eventbrite to attend.
In an effort to include as much of the community as possible, we will also be livestreaming this event for those who cannot join us in person.
Because the tragedy that inspired this event affected so many people in Oakland and beyond, we are looking for input from the community to help in the planning and production of our concert. COST: Free and open to the community. All ages welcome.
MUSICIANS: There is no open sign-up for this event. To be considered for participation, please email your section Ambassador and Artistic Director, Dave Möschler.

COVID PROTOCOLS: All attendees will need to show proof of full vaccination + booster against COVID-19 in order to enter the venue. Masks are required for all attendees.
