Session 70: SFMOMA

  • SFMOMA 151 3rd Street San Francisco, CA, 94103 United States (map)

Come join us on September 14 as we head back to SFMOMA's Public Knowledge Library for an afternoon of premieres! We're trying something a little different for this session - three new pieces that focus on different orchestrations (a big band arrangement, a piece for glockenspiel, singers, and strings, and a piece for strings and woodwinds [See below for exact instrumentations]). Due to venue restrictions, we won't be able to have more than sixty musicians playing at once, so it will be more of a round-robin session!

SHEET MUSIC for upcoming open sessions can always be found on Google Drive at: bit.ly/AOCOpenSession
Parts are ready for Holst and Antonini. Cellista parts will be ready September 1.

Due to the venue limitation of 60 players per piece, some sections may fill up quickly. Make sure to sign-up early to secure a spot! Certain sections may create a waiting list. Ambassadors will be assigning parts, as per usual, and may need to adjust sections to stay within instrumentation guidelines.

Reference recordings can be found linked above.

Please bring a music stand. We'll have chairs, sheet music, and water and beer for the musicians!

The sign-up deadline for all sections is Monday, September 9. Once that has passed, expect an email from your Awesöme Ambassadors with specific info and part assignments within a few days (check your spam filters if this is your first session). Email your ambassadors if you haven't heard back by Thursday, September 12. (Please be patient—they have a lot of information to collect before emailing everyone.) Their information can be found at www.awesomeorchestra.org/ambassadors
