1:00-2:30pm - George Gershwin - Porgy and Bess selections (arranged by Robert Russell Bennett for orchestra only)
instrumentation: 2 flutes (2nd doubles piccolo), 2 oboes (2nd doubles english horn), 2 clarinets (B-flat), 2 bassoons, 2 alto saxes, 1 tenor sax, 1 bari sax, 4 horns (in F), 3 trumpets (B-flat), 3 trombones, 1 tuba, timpani, percussion (snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, xylophone, glockenspiel), harp, strings.
2:30-4:00pm - Serge Prokofiev - Peter and the Wolf, op. 67 with narrator (special guest TBA!)
instrumentation: 1 flute, 1 oboe, 1 clarinet (B-flat), 1 bassoon, 3 horns (in F), 1 trumpet (in B-flat), 1 trombone, timpani, percussion (triangle, tambourine, cymbals, snare drum, bass drum, castanets), narrator, strings
Reference recordings for most pieces can be found by a simple internet search. Please familiarize yourself with each piece as possible!
Please bring a music stand. We'll have chairs, sheet music, and beer and water for all the musicians!
Deadlines for smaller sections are Sunday, January 15. Once that is past, expect an email from your Awesöme Ambassadors with specific info and part assignments (check your spam filters if this is your first session), and email them if you haven't heard back by January 19.
